Each year the global design community convenes in our very own city of Portland, Oregon. Designers across all disciplines celebrate their industry by attending various events, open houses and workshops, seeking and sharing inspiration. The CDS design team was lucky enough to find time in our busy schedules to partake in this year’s festivities.
Our first stop was Snøhetta’s People Process Projects exhibit hosted in the Center for Architecture. Snøhetta, an internationally known architecture, landscape, and interior design firm is currently working on two particular projects that are close to our hearts, The James Beard Public Market and Willamette Falls Legacy Project.
Next we hit Studio 534, located in southeast Portland, for BBQ, refreshments, and a studio tour. Montucky Cold Snacks were not in short supply! The studio is home to Merkled Studio, VINCAdesign, Spacecraft, and New Refined Basics. Furniture making, woodworking, 3D designing, and jewelry crafting are among the numerous talents these artists possess.
We closed out our day at Manifesto, one of Portland’s leading branding agencies. Visionaries and creatives were not in short supply. Manifesto’s new office, a beautifully renovated old boiler room, was abuzz with great people, good food, a ping-pong table, and a whiteboard where Scott Minton, our Creative Director, left his mark.
A big thanks to Design Week Portland and our gracious hosts for sharing your space and inspiration with the CDS Team. See you next year!
